Week 1 Fantasy Football Reactions...Maybe Some Overreactions

Week 1 is finally over. Normally with week 1, we tend to overreact on a lot of things like the Packers are going to suck this year, the Texans will win the AFC South, or  Jameis Winston will win MVP. Well, we are going to continue this trend of the overreactions on what we saw in week 1, but in fantasy football term.

  • Jalen Hurts will finish top 3 fantasy football QB this season
I don't think this is a big overreaction. I don't believe this will happen, but I think is possible. Hurts was amazing against the Falcons (I know the Falcons' defense is shit. What's new.) Hurts scored the third most points for QBs this weeks.  I like the way they used him offensively with the read options and having him move outside pocket. Hurts ability to run adds to his value, so if he continue to improve as a passer, he will be a fantasy star this year.

  •  Corey Davis will finish this season a top 10 fantasy football WR.
This is an overreaction, but I was all in on Corey Davis before the season started. Heading into the season, I thought he could be a mid WR2 this season. That is a good bargain if you got him in the seventh round or later in your draft. He's off to a good start. In week 1, Davis had 7 tgts, 5 recs, 96 yds, 2 TDs. Yes, the Jets offense are probably going to be horse shit this season, but Davis is their top receiver, and he has a great repour with Zach Wilson. The high target share will be there every week for Davis. If you have the opportunity, trade for Davis now.

  • Derrick Henry will finish outside of the top 10 fantasy RBs
This might be an overreaction, but hear me out. Did anyone see what the Cardinals did to the Titans? The Cardinals fucking annihilate the Titans. Kyler Murray just shredded the Titans' defense to pieces. But what was more surprising was how the Cardinals' defense shutdown the Titans' offense. Tennessee offensive line got man handled. Henry had no running lanes in most of his carries. I was not high on Henry before the season. Henry had over 400 touches last year and over 300 touches the year before. In the past, we have seen running backs that get around 320-400 touches in consecutive years fall off the next year. It is like precipitous drop off.  The guys that comes across my mind are Earl Campbell, Demarco Murray, Shaun Alexander, Larry Johnson, and Le'veon Bell. It has been guys who has been able to still to be great even with all of those touches, but those guys don't normally take a lot of big hits. Those are the elusive running backs like Christian McCaffery or/and LaDianian Tomlinson. Henry looks for contact. He is a power back, so he takes a lot of big hits. There is no Arthur Smith now. The new coordinator wasn't good in game one. The defense is bad, so they might be playing from behind in most of their games, so that means Tannehill will have to throw more. Henry is not a threat in the passing game. And yeah, the offensive lines looks like it will be a problematic issue this season.  Yes, it's only one game, but I am concerned about their team. I hope I'm wrong about Henry, but there is a lot of red flags with me.

  • Antonio Brown will finished with more fantasy points than Mike Evans
I think this is an overreaction, but I think Brown will be a good WR3 this year. If an injury occurs to either Evans or Godwin, Brown will shoot up to the WR2 range during their absence. I know Brown had the great week one and Evans had a dud, but I think Evans will bounce back have a great game against the Falcons next Sunday. Godwin though will have the most points out of this trio this season. I have always believe that he is their best receiver.

  • Amari Cooper will finish the season as top the fantasy WR
This will not happen. This an overreaction, That will belong to most likely Tyreek Hill. Cooper was great last Thursday. I know everyone was hyping about Ceedee Lamb before the season, but I still believe Cooper is still their best receiver. He is such a great route runner. Ceedee is not in his league in that area at this moment, but Lamb is a really good player that has potential to be great this season. Because of the presence of Lamb, that will take away some targets from Cooper in some games down the road.  I believe the Cowboys will be in a lot of shootouts this season because I don't think their defense is that good.  If Dak can stay healthy, I believe both players definitely finish in the top 12 this year, but not at the top spot.

  • Earl Mitchell will finish top 12 in RBS
This is an overreaction. Raheem Mostert is out for the season. Earl Mitchell came in and had a great game against the Lions. He jumped over Trey Sermon, the team's third round pick, in the running back depth chart, which was a shocker to most people including myself. But to believe Mitchell will be the main guy moving forward, we are sadly fooling ourselves. Kyle Shannan is so unpredictable with this stuff. I would not be surprise if Sermon or even JaMycal Hasty starts next week and gets most of the carries just to people more bewilder about the backfield situation.

College Park Skyhawks Scouting Report

Scouting Report   College Park Skyhawks: Date: November 13, 2024 Team: College Park Skyhawks Vs 905 Raptors  Scout: Daeshaun Brathwaite  Dominick Barlow Body/Athleticism  Barlow is listed as 6’8 and weighs 215 pounds. He is not quick, but he moves well enough for a wing player. He is not weight strong, but I don’t think the weight is much of a concern.  Shooting:  The mechanics of the shot are fine. He has a little funky flick of the wrist when he releases it. The shooting has improved. Last year he shot only 30 percent from last year. In short sample size, he is shooting 60 percent from three. He has also made his free throws so far. Obviously those numbers are not substantial, but there is a confidence when he shoots that he knows the shot is going in.  Position/Offense  Barlow mainly plays off the ball. He has a good touch around the rim. For this team, he is playing more like a small ball five by setting more screens and rolling to the ...
