The system rating combines the player’s performance on offense and defense. The system focuses on the player’s offensive skill set like passing, dribbling and shooting. Right now the model favors more of players who can shoot the three. Defense, I try to focus on instincts like deflections, steals and block shots and effort plays like diving for loose balls. We deduct players for allowing blow byes on defense and turnovers on offense the most in our model. The rating system still needs some improvement, but it is a good base level so far on how well a player is performing. What does Luka trade mean for the Lakers, Mavericks, and the NBA?

  I am still processing what happened last week. Like most people I was shocked when I heard the news that Luka Doncic was traded to the Lakers. I found out about it from a friend who happens to be a Laker’s fan. He sent it in our group chat late that night. I thought he was joking. Then the next morning I went to YouTube and the very first thing I saw was ‘Breaking News: Luka Doncic has been traded to the Lakers.’ NO FUCKING WAY! In my mind, I thought who did the Lakers gave up to get him because they don’t have any appealing assets outside of Reaves and Davis and a couple of picks. I went to the ESPN website to see the full trade package. After I finished reading it, I kept looking for more players and picks in the deal. Nope. That was the trade. Now I’m super confused.
